Biography
Dr. Simon Campbell is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and an accredited bowel cancer colonoscopist with more than 20 years of experience in the field. He graduated from Medicine with Honors from Birmingham University and then he had extensive training on luminal gut problems in Edinburgh, Oxford and Liverpool.
He has previously worked as a full-time NHS Consultant Gastroenterologist at Manchester Royal Infirmary where he held positions as the research lead and clinical lead for inflammatory bowel disease. In 2015, Dr Campbell took up a part-time NHS position focussing on specialist endoscopy within the National Bowel Cancer screening
programme and subsequently expanded his role as a private practitioner based in Cheshire, focussing on all
aspects of diagnostic imaging encompassing reflux disease (GORD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Barrett’s Oesophagus, Colon Cancer, and gastrointestinal surveillance strategies using Capsule endoscopy.
He is a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and held national positions on the IBD section and Independent
Practise Committee for the British Society of Gastroenterology. He has held honorary Senior Lecturer positions at Salford and Manchester University. He currently acts as the JAG endoscopy and chair of the endoscopy user group at BMI Alexandra Hospital.
